Dujie
Dujie is a lonely, frustrated, short statured cynic who hides behind
a large hat and large glasses. To compensate
for his height, Dujie rides around on a hoverpad or takes to
countertops whenever possible. Contrary to many womens' assumptions,
this shy character is not a space alien, and he'd wish people
would stop treating him as such.

 |
Shoe
Shoe spends a lot of time drinking, rhyming, and smoking cigars.
He does his best to hold onto those bygone good-times of college,
but he's been slowly maturing against his will.
For instance, he's started to rhyme less in conversation.
Also, he holds down a respectable
job as a stockbroker. That's not to say that he'll stop hallucinating
dead philosophers and giving out bad advice anytime soon.
|
 |
Francis (Freshy)
Francis Orange. Somehow, he's still the same brighthearted dimwit that
Max and Dujie showed around campus six years ago. Now he's a
bartender at a nearby hangout, and when he's not watching the world go
by from behind the bar, he's often watching it go by on a movie screen.
Also, cool movies give him superpowers, which, like all great gifts, is
a mixed blessing.

 |
Amy
Amelia was a friend of Gwen's for a bit... until a strange fallout
involving Max happened. Her round 'innocent' face belies her true nature.
She's the sort of person who knows exactly what she wants. She delights
in hiding her naughty attitude behind a barrier of maximum cuteness.
She's taken quite a shine to Francis, as they are both people who have
no trouble getting fun out of life.

 |
Larry
Larry's a technical virtuoso. A lonely homebody who telecommutes
from the apartment he shares with Shoe
(one floor above Max and Dujie). Larry analyzes everything around him in an effort
to quietly conquer the world. Unfortunately, for all of his observational skills,
Larry's astoundingly good at missing the point. But he can do a good Linux
install.
|
 |
Julius
Is everyone in the cast and insecure wreck? Maybe so, as Julius has his
share of hangups. He's a sysadmin by trade, and a sysadmin by behavior.
You'll find him talking shop with Larry or getting stuck in holes or pining
in a gentle way for Zoe, the cast's newest entry (bio coming soon).

| Philosophers |
 |
Plato
Plato is the Alpha-Philospoher, at least around area 337. Always
on top of things, a natural shill, and an astute businessman. His
coolness factor can also be ascertained by the size of his sunglasses.
|
 |
Socrates (Sock).
Socrates, like Plato, is one of Shoe's philosophic hallucinations.
Unlike Plato, he's usually one step behind the world, and two steps
behind Plato. Defensive and insecure, Sock at least has Descartes
to pick on.
|
 |
Descartes (Cart).
Descartes gets no respect. Never mind the fact that he made immense
contributions to the areas of mathematics and philosphy, he still
gets guff from 'old skool' guys like Plato and Sock.
|
 |
Nietzsche.
Yes, another philosopher fresh out of Shoe's head. Since he's technically
dead already, all the health problems that plagued him during his life
are no longer an issue. The other philosphers don't really like having him
around, because he gives respect to nobody, and he may very well be insane.

 |
Max
There's something strange about Area 337's central character bowing out of the strip.
He hasn't been seen for over 20 episodes, not since he had a life-changing
epiphany and went off to be a stunt driver. Now Dujie is stuck paying double
rent and nobody's heard a peep from this guy since.
|
 |
Gwen
Gwen is a woman with a strong shell and a volatile center. Call her
vulnerable and you'll likely find yourself stapled to the ceiling. She used to be
Max's not-girlfriend. Now she's simply not Max's girlfriend. And like Max,
she doesn't come around much anymore.
